Thomas began his professional experience working for the Chicago Public School system. He experienced a career change that led him into State Farm Insurance Company, which took him through a myriad of positions ranging from claims representative, human resources, agency and executive leadership. Currently is CEO/President of Thomas B Henderson Insurance Agency Inc. He has participated on a number of boards, inclusive of civic and non-profit organizations in Chicago, Detroit, MI, Mount Prospect and Elmhurst, IL. Most notably has been his involvement with the 100 Black Men of Chicago for the past 15 years, as gala chairman, Vice-President of the Executive committee, as most recently, as Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors. Also serves as Co-Chairman of the National Leadership Institute Committee for the 100 Black Men of America. He recently was the recipient of the 2021 Chicago Defender Men of Excellence Award He is an active, 36 year member of the Salem Baptist Church of Chicago, and is Co-Director of the Marriage Ministry. He and his wife Patrice have been married for over 43 years and have 3 children and 6 grandchildren. They published their first co-authored book in November 2021. It is titled “Love Touchdown- A Marriage Playbook”.
