Phillip Thomas currently serves as a Project Manager for Gilbane Building Company in their Arlington, Virginia office. After his 2012 graduation from Louisiana State University, Phillip began his career as a construction professional that has since brought him to several metropolitan areas around the country - San Diego, San Antonio, Houston, Miami, Kansas City, and Columbus. During his stay in Houston, Texas, Phillip earned his MBA from Prairie View A&M University. With a career centered around healthcare construction, Phillip's passion for people, travel, community outreach, and service intersects almost seamlessly. Phillip is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha, Fraternity Incorporated, and also serves as a member of the Kansas City Metro Chapter of 100 Black Men of America.

Overview:The 100 Black Men of America, Inc., established and implemented the Brace B. Godfrey, Jr. African American History Challenge Youth Competition as an innovative, relevant, and exciting way for our mentees to learn about the trials and triumphs of their ancestors. Knowledge is indeed power! As our students learn for themselves, the facts about the roles and contributions of their ancestors, to the building and growth of America, they will be empowered to reverse the ignorance previously taught and reject any future erroneous teachings. Attendees will get to witness the finalist Junior and Senior Division teams compete for their chance to win cash prizes, scholarships, trophies, mediations, and earn the title, Champions.

Godfrey, Jr. African American History Challenge Youth Competition as an innovative, relevant, and exciting way for our mentees to learn about the trials and triumphs of their ancestors. During the Preliminary Rounds, the Junior and Senior Division teams will compete for their chance to advance to the finals.
