President | Benedict College Collegiate 100
y name is Je’laya Blackwell, and I am from the small town of Lavonia, Georgia. I am set to receive my Bachelor of Social Work degree from Benedict College in May of 2023. Pursuing higher education has always been a priority for me, and I am thrilled to have been accepted into Clark Atlanta University's Advanced Standing Master of Social Program, from which I am set to graduate in May of 2024. Furthermore, through the National Collegiate 100 partnership with Drake Law University, I have been invited to apply for a full tuition scholarship to study law. My ultimate career goal is to be an advocate for the wrongly accused and convicted, fighting tirelessly to ensure that they receive the justice they deserve. Additionally, I am passionate about promoting the concept of smart decarceration, which seeks to provide ex-convicts with the tools they need to succeed once they have been released from confinement, thereby reducing the likelihood of reoffending. I am committed to giving a voice to those who have been marginalized due to their background or other biases, as I firmly believe that everyone deserves a fair chance to improve their lives. Moreover, I strongly believe in the importance of equitable treatment for all, regardless of one's demographics. When not engrossed in my academic pursuits, I love to travel and explore new cuisines. My most memorable travel experiences so far have been to London, England, and Paris, France, both of which are rich in history and culture.
